Rhizophora is a genus of tropical mangrove trees, which can grow to 20-35m in height and 30-45cm in diameter, sometimes to 70cm. Mangrove has quick growth speed, salt-tolerant to adapted to coastal saline or brackish water regions. In higher land where tide can’t reach, mangrove has smaller size and also grows slower. Tree trunk often curves with many bulges, the wood is reddish yellow. Mangrove swamps protect coastal areas from erosion, storm surge, and tsunamis. They are aslo a very good material as firewood or making charcoal.
